Middlehouse is a residential facility for men who are alcoholic and who admit they have a problem with alcohol and chemical dependency.

It is a place which provides an alcohol and drug free clean and sober living environment. Its sole purpose is to help men who suffer from the disease of chemical dependency achieve lasting and successful sobriety.

Middlehouse was established in 1966 under the guidance and encouragement of Dr. Joseph Middleton, a prominent San Luis Obispo County physician. He was strongly supported in his efforts by many citizens of the community who shared his concern for the alcoholic. The house is located at 2939 Augusta Street, San Luis Obispo. An Annex was added in 1975 to increase the capacity and thereby better service the recovering alcoholics. The house now accommodates 14 residents.

Middlehouse is a non-profit corporation, registered by the State of California under the legal title: San Luis Obispo Committee For Education on Alcoholism. All donations and gifts are tax deductible.
